Top Story
1. Wesleyan Wins DIII Women’s Tennis Title
Wesleyan won its second NCAA Division III women’s tennis title and first since 2019 with a 4-1 decision over defending national champion Washington U. yesterday in Chattanooga, Tenn.
The Cardinals (23-2) won the doubles point on the strength of wins at Nos. 1 and 3. The Bears (21-4) knotted the match with a win at #3 singles, but straight-set wins from Sarah Youngberg and Mariia Kornilova pulled Wesleyan to the brink of the championship.
Agnes Guggenheim provided the title-winning point, rallying from a set down for a three-set triumph at No. 2 singles.
2. Muhlenberg Stuns Trine; Mount Union Advances In Softball Super Regionals

The stunner of the day took place in Angola, Ind., on Thursday as unranked Muhlenberg scored four times in the sixth inning and three in the seventh to upset second-ranked Trine, 8-2, in game one of their super regional. Scooter Hulsen went 3-for-4 with three RBI for the Mules (36-11) who got a four-hit performance from Eden Clark in the circle. The Thunder (36-6) needs to win twice today to keep alive their chances for a third national crown in four seasons.
Mount Union advanced to the final round for the first time in program history with a sweep of UMass Dartmouth. The Purple Raiders (34-7) erased a 2-0 deficit with a five-spot in the fifth to win game one by a 5-2 count. Mount Union got all it needed from Kendyll Cahill in game two with her 2-run home run in the fourth in a 4-1 victory.

Carter Sichol, Carleton
They don’t call it “moving day” for nothing.
Emory and Carnegie Mellon posted the low rounds of the day to separate from the field after three rounds of the 2026 NCAA Division III women’s golf championship at the Desert Willow Golf Resort in Palm Desert, Calif.
The Eagles fashioned a four-woman total of even-par 288 to remain atop the team leaderboard at 6-over-par. The Tartans were three better, carding a 285 to pull within one shot of their UAA rival at +7. NYU and Washington and Lee remain within shouting distance at +17 and +18, respectively.
Carnegie Mellon’s Emma Wong took over first place in the medalist race with a 3-under-par 69 to finish at 4-under-par 212. Carleton’s Carter Sichol posted a 71 and is one shot back, while NYU’s Jiayi Fu and Middlebury’s Ella Han are two back.
5. Lacrosse Championship Weekend
The NCAA Division III men’s and women’s lacrosse seasons come to a close this weekend with the championships rounds.
The women’s semifinals are set for today in Rochester, N.Y. with Salisbury joining three NESCAC schools - Middlebury, Tufts and Wesleyan - in the final four. The Sea Gulls and the Panthers are both unbeaten but need to get past the Cardinals and Jumbos, respectively, to meet in Sunday’s final.
The Tufts men go for a “three-peat” when the Jumbos take on RIT in the men’s championship match on Sunday in Charlottesville, Va. The two teams met in the 2024 national final with Tufts coming out on top by an 18-14 count.
6. Lightning Round ⚡
» Ice Hockey. “NCAA ice hockey rules committee members met this week and proposed a requirement for cut-resistant equipment to be worn starting with the 2027-28 season. Due to potential budget impact, Division III men's and women's programs could be given an additional year to implement the rule (2028-29).”
» Programming Cuts. “Baldwin Wallace University is sunsetting nine undergraduate majors, seven graduate programs and 19 minors as the institution refocuses around its most popular offerings. The Ohio private nonprofit is discontinuing 10 faculty positions, or about 2.5% of its full-time workforce, due to the cuts.”
» Academics. Tufts senior Nicola Donlan is the recipient of the NCAA Elite Scholar-Athlete Award for Division III Women's Lacrosse.
» Tennis (M). It will be No. 1 vs. No. 2 for the NCAA Division III men’s tennis championship today, as Chicago and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps meet at 2 p.m. ET.
