“The University of Valley Forge, a small private Christian institution, on Wednesday announced that it would suspend operations at the end of its summer 2026 semester.

The college — which enrolls 589 students, according to the National Center for Education Statistics — has been facing the possible loss of its accreditation by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.

“After much prayer, careful consideration, and consultation, the Board of Trustees of the University of Valley Forge has made the difficult and painful decision to suspend academic operations at the conclusion of the Summer 2026 semester,” the board said in a statement.”

» Driving The News. ““This decision follows extensive efforts to address the University’s financial challenges, pursue strategic partnerships, and identify sustainable paths forward. These challenges have been well documented over several decades and were reflected in the recent action of the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, which placed the University on Show Cause status,” the board said. “After careful assessment of the University’s financial realities, the Board concluded that it could not continue academic operations responsibly beyond the Summer 2026 semester.”

“As of Wednesday evening, officials from the Big Ten and SEC had not delivered to congressional lawmakers their position on a piece of legislation intended to regulate the college sports industry. And without their support, the bill faces steep odds of passage through the U.S. Congress as time ticks away.

At the center of the talks is the conferences' desire to close a cap circumvention loophole to prohibit schools from exceeding the revenue-share cap by using "associated entities," such as corporate sponsors and multimedia rights partners, to redirect athletic department funds to their rosters. College administrators say an adjustment to the provision is essential to provide a stricter cap, as the latest version of the bill raises the athlete revenue-share cap from $21.3 million to $48.8 million, a move that, while aligning more with the current market, must be paired with a hard cap.”

» State of Play. “According to the most recent additions, the bill creates a $22.5 million retention pool for schools to use on retaining athletes in addition to the $21.3 million original cap, plus $5 million to be spent only on women athletes.”

» What’s Next. “Many believe that Majority Leader John Thune must file for cloture by Thursday for the legislation to move to the Senate floor by next week.”

“East Texas Baptist University volleyball outside hitter Graycee Mosley has been named the 2025-26 Overall Academic All-American® of the Year for Division III, as selected by the College Sports Communicators (CSC).

Mosley, a senior from Troy, Texas, holds a 4.00 cumulative GPA as a biochemistry major. The outside hitter earned her third consecutive CSC Academic All-America® honor, and second first team accolade. Mosley earned AVCA first team All-America honors for the second year in a row, and it was her third All-America honor overall. She was a four-time AVCA All-Region selection. Mosley finished the season fourth in the nation in total kills (532), 10th in kills per set (4.59) and 16th in total attacks (1,236).”

“Expanding video review in men’s lacrosse for coaches challenges and officials was approved for all three divisions.

Under the coaches challenge rule change, a request can be made to initiate a review of a goal that could be negated for the following violations:

» Game Ball. “In all three divisions, standard game balls for the 2026-27 academic year are recommended to be fluorescent green or yellow. That will become a requirement for the 2027-28 academic year.”

» Overtime. “Until the winning goal is scored, overtime will be played in 15-minute periods. All timeout and video challenge rules will remain unchanged. Previously, overtime was conducted in four-minute periods, with the teams switching sides of the field until the game-winning goal was scored.”

» Merger. “Governing boards from both Willamette and Pacific universities signed a binding agreement this month to merge the two schools. The two schools are located about 50 miles away from each other in Oregon’s Willamette Valley - Pacific in Forest Grove and Willamette in Salem - and are the oldest private universities in the state. Merger details are still being ironed out, but athletics programs will be separate.”

» Streaming. “FloSports has announced the launch of the FloSports Channel, a free ad-supported streaming channel premiering on Prime Video in the U.S. on July 21. The channel will feature more than 300 live events and more than 1,000 hours of live programming, along with original programming, studio shows, podcasts, highlights, replays, and documentaries. Additional distribution partners and programming details will be announced in the coming weeks.”

» Ice Hockey (M). “The NCAA has appointed Jeff Fulton as the national coordinator of men’s ice hockey officials. He is set to begin his new position Sept. 1. Fulton most recently served as the NCAA men’s and women’s ice hockey secretary-rules editor, a position he has held since 2020.”

» Honda Awards. “Record-breaking New York University swimmer Kaley McIntyre was recognized as the Honda Division III Woman Athlete of the Year award Monday night as part of the Collegiate Women's Sports Awards (CWSA) broadcast.”

“DoorDash has received FAA approval to launch its own drone delivery program called "DoorDash Air."

The company will develop its own drone and manage many of its deliveries, while still working with its existing drone delivery partners.

Harrison Shih, head of DoorDash Air, said in a statement: "We want drone delivery to work for any merchant, anywhere."
