It’s the matchup that men’s lacrosse fans have wanted to see all season - No. 1 vs. No. 2. The defending champion Jumbos are looking for their fourth crown, while the Sea Gulls have captured 12 national titles with the last coming in 2017. The teams met in the NCAA final in 2016 in Philly with Salisbury coming out on top by a 14-13 count.

2. Day One Recap

The first day of the 2023 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships saw a national record fall in the prelims. The Wisconsin-La Crosse 4×100 relay of Ryder Smith, Sam Blaskowski, Spencer Reichart and Luke Schreoder set a new standard in the prelims of 39.86, erasing the old mark of 39.95 set by a quartet from New Jersey City in 2006.

  • Javelin: Will Lawrence (UW-Platteville), 72.14m (236-8)

  • Long Jump: Ethan Kassebaum (George Fox), 7.76m (25-5 ½)

3. Super Regional Preview

Seven of the top 10 teams in the country and 13 ranked teams in all will participate in the DIII baseball super regionals this weekend. All games begin at noon local time on Friday.

There are six teams ranked in the top 10, including Nos. 1-2-4-5, and 12 ranked clubs overall. There are also four “Cinderella” teams looking to break through. All games begin at 2 p.m. local time on Friday.

5. Championship Preview

The 2023 NCAA Division III women’s rowing championship begins today in Pennsauken, N.J. Wellesley edged four-time defending champ Bates by a single point to capture the 2022 crown. The two crews have won every NCAA title since 2015.

6. Lightning Round ⚡️

Elite 90. Middlebury sophomore Hope Shue was named the winner of the award for women’s lacrosse. Saint John’s junior Carter Grove is the recipient for men’s outdoor track and field.

🗞 Tennis. The ITA announced the four finalists for its Sally Ride STEM Award, honoring a female student-athlete who demonstrates zeal, dedication and perseverance towards her tennis training and competition, STEM studies, and long-term goals - Anjali Devireddy (Johns Hopkins), McKenzie Ferrari (UMass Dartmouth), Hannah Johnston (Washington U.) and Sara Persemlidis (MIT).
