Welcome to September and the start of the new athletic year in NCAA Division III.

It is the eighth year for D3Playbook and we remain committed to providing you with all the news you need to know about DIII, the NCAA, and college athletics in general so you can make the decisions needed to advance your institution.

It takes time and effort to make the Playbook. My 35-year experience in college athletics, as well as 25 years serving as a DIII commissioner, gives me insight that you will not find anywhere else on the internet.

I know that you can get DIII news from College.Town and other sources for free. And these folks do a great service. But I contend that D3Playbook provides the best information in the best format for you - the reader - that you can find anywhere. We’re here every weekday during the academic year with what you need to know to be a better administrator.

» Of Note. “For the first time, game archives will be free to watch 24 hours after every live event on the FloCollege website and app. This gives student-athletes, recruits and fans an easy way to revisit and share memorable moments while providing a managed library of past events for partner schools.”

» Social Media. “FloCollege is also introducing a live clipping tool built by FloSports that allows schools to create and publish highlights to social media in real time. Combined with continued investment in the FloSports Production Suite and professional cloud-based graphics, these technologies will allow schools to amplify their student-athletes, engage fans on social media and produce better broadcasts than ever.”

» What They’re Saying. “Our strategy has always been about investing where others haven’t, and initiatives like Prime Video distribution, the FloSports Production Suite and new technologies for fans are all examples of that commitment. This season represents an important milestone, but there’s a lot more ahead,” said John Turner, Vice President and General Manager of FloCollege.

» Officials. “The College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin has announced the hiring of three new officiating coordinators ahead of the 2026-27 academic year. Kenny Ritchie has been named the CCIW Coordinator of Men’s Wrestling Officials, Jason Salley will serve as the CCIW Coordinator of Women’s Wrestling Officials and Jason Smith has been named the CCIW Coordinator of Softball Officials.”
