Top Story
1. Redlands One Win Away From First Softball Title

Redlands spotted defending national champion Trine three runs out of the gate and then slammed the door on its way to an 11-3 run-rule victory over the Thunder in the opening game of the Division III softball championship series.
A pair of home runs by Karley Trine and Tyra Marcum gave Trine a 3-0 advantage after just one-half inning. The Bulldogs struck for six runs in the bottom of the third with Maya Holshoe’s bases-clearing triple coming as the big blow. Holeshoe added RBI singles in the fourth and sixth as Redlands moved to within one win of becoming the first SCIAC team since Chapman in 1995 to win the title.
The Thunder needs to defeat Redlands twice today for its third national title in four years. First pitch is at 11 AM at the Moyer Sports Complex in Salem, Va.

4. Volleyball Line Judge Initiative To Launch Later This Month
“The NCAA, RQ+ and the Professional Association of Volleyball Officials are pleased to launch the Volleyball Line Judge Initiative, a strategic effort developed in response to concerns raised by conference commissioners regarding the availability of registered and trained volleyball line judges.
Through this initiative, the NCAA national coordinator of officials, the NCAA secretary-rules editor and the Professional Association of Volleyball Officials will provide targeted training and educational resources for students who are also working as women's and men's volleyball line judges on campus during the season.”
» Court Awareness. “A crucial component of this initiative is the elimination of registration costs for student line judges meeting five key criteria, removing a significant financial barrier to ensure these student officials can receive necessary training.”
» Why It Matters. “Officials who meet the criteria above will not be charged PAVO or NCAA Volleyball Central Hub registration fees. Upon completion of registration, these student line judges will be added to the NCAA Volleyball Central Hub, where they will have access to line judge and referee training and will count toward their conference's percentage of registered officials.”
