“The merger between Kean University and New Jersey City University, slated to be completed in July, is going to have a major impact on the state’s robust NCAA Division III athletics scene. Officials from both colleges have announced plans for NJCU’s intercollegiate teams to be absorbed by Kean’s after this school year with one exception – its historically successful men’s basketball program, which will remain independent.
