1. Eagles Soar to National Title

Emory won its second NCAA women’s golf championship last Friday, becoming just the second program to win multiple DIII titles. The Eagles also established a tournament record 72-hole team score of 1,168 strokes (+16), bettering its own record set in 2022 by nine shots.
Sophomore Carys Code took medalist honors, carding a one-under-par 71 in the final round to edge Carnegie Mellon’s Cecelia Jia by two shots.

2. Tufts Scoring Machine Faces Upstart Dickinson in National Final

Defending national champion Tufts put a 26-burger on Bowdoin to advance to another NCAA DIII men’s lacrosse final on Sunday night. The Jumbos (22-0) will take on upstart Dickinson (17-5) in the championship match on Sunday in Foxborough, Mass., after the Red Devils stunned RIT, 12-10.
Tufts d, Bowdoin, 26-11
The Jumbos (22-0) scored 10 times in the second period to forge a 14-7 lead at intermission and defeat #5 Bowdoin, 26-11. Jack Regnery led the high-powered Tufts offense with six goals, while Brooks Hauser and Will Emsing each posted a hat trick and a pair of assists. The defending national champions, who moved into the semis with a 17-8 win against #7 Gettysburg, outshot the Polar Bears (16-4), 55-45, and got 12 saves from GK Conner Garzone. Patrick Fitzgerald led Bowdoin with five goals.
Bowdoin advanced to the national semifinal with a 19-11 defeat of No. 4 Christopher Newport in the Elite Eight. Jason Lach powered the Polar Bears with eight scores.
Dickinson d. RIT, 12-10
Charlie Baughan scored four times, while Landen Hyatt tallied three goals as the Red Devils (17-5) stunned the Tigers (21-2) on their home field. Dickinson shot out to a 4-1 lead after the first 15 minutes and held a 5-3 lead at the break. An Ethan Harkins tally midway through the third quarter tied the game at 6, before the Devils reeled off three unanswered scores to seize control. Rocco Bognet made nine saves between the pipes for the Red and White.
Dickinson reached the semis for the first time in program history with an 11-9 win against #5 RPI, as Hyatt and Ramsey Huggins each recorded hat tricks. RIT rolled into the final four with a 14-5 defeat of Cortland, as Clifford Gaston notched four goals.

3. NESCAC Invitational + Gettysburg

Welcome to the NESCAC Invitational - plus Gettysburg - as the four teams for the NCAA DIII women’s lacrosse semifinals are set for Salem.
Middlebury d. York, 19-4
The defending national champions jumped all over the Spartans early, sprinting out to a 6-1 lead after 15 minutes and 13-1 at intermission to cruise to victory. Hope Shue scored five times, while Caroline Adams and Maggie Coughlin added four scores apiece for the Panthers (19-1). Zoe Kluegel scored twice for York (18-4).
Colby d. Wesleyan, 7-6
The White Mules held off the hard-charging Cardinals to reach their first-ever Final Four. Seven different players scored goals for Colby (17-3), who led 6-4 after three periods. Mya Waryas scored her second goal of the day with 43 ticks remaining to pull Wesleyan (15-6) within one but the Connecticut side could not get the equalizer.
Tufts d. Salisbury, 8-7
Maggie Carden notched a hat trick while Allie Zorn added a pair of goals as the Jumbos (20-1) advanced to the national semifinals with a one-goal win against Salisbury (16-5). Zorn’s second goal gave Tufts a 8-5 lead with 9:33 remaining and the margin needed to hold off two late Gull goals.
Gettysburg d. Denison, 16-13
Sophie Smith scored five times, while Mikaela Kelly and Julia Daly each had two goals and four assists as the Bullets crashed the NESCAC party with a win against the Big Red (16-5). A five-goal run during the third period opened up a 9-8 match at intermission.

4. Moving On

Three top-seeds fell in the regional round of the NCAA DIII Softball Championship last weekend. Randolph-Macon won three games, taking out #3 Christopher Newport, 6-2, in the biggest shocker in the Newport News regional. No. 3 seed Emory edged #8 Huntingdon, 4-3, in the ‘if necessary’ game to win the Montgomery regional, while Wisconsin-Stevens Point rose up as the No. 3 seed to topple #16 UW-Oshkosh, 3-1, in the Oshkosh regional. The other 13 top seeds advanced to the super regional round.

5. Top Squads Advance to Super Regionals

Jonathan Enriquez, McMurry
La Verne was the highest seed to fail to advance from the regional round of the NCAA DIII Baseball Championship. Pomona-Pitzer ousted the #6 Leopards, 2-1 in an elimination game, before falling to undefeated McMurry, 12-2.
#11 Brockport, #14 Gustavus Adolphus, #15 Webster, #16 UW-La Crosse, #17 Centre, #18 Cortland and #20 Buena Vista also failed to advance to the super regionals.

The participants for the 2025 DIII outdoor track and field championships have been announced. The championship meet is May 22-24 at the SPIRE Institute's Outdoor Track & Field facility in Geneva, Ohio.
