1.  Four Track & Field Standouts Honored


The United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced its national honors on Wednesday.

Gallaudet's Eric Gregory was named the National Men’s Track Athlete of the Year for the 2022 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field season. Gregory capped a remarkable season at the 2022 NCAA DIII Outdoor Track & Field Championships, where he scored 16 points with a victory in the 400 meters and a third-place finish in the 200 meters.

Wellesley's Ari Marks was named the National Women’s Track Athlete of the Year for the 2022 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field season. Marks completed the distance double at the 2022 NCAA DIII Outdoor Track & Field Championships with a near 11-second victory in the 5000 meters and a 27-second triumph in the 10,000 meters. 

UW-Eau Claire's Marcus Weaver was named the National Men’s Field Athlete of the Year for the 2022 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field season. Weaver swept the decathlon and javelin for the second year in a row at the NCAA DIII Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Before last year, it hadn’t been done in NCAA DIII history; now, Weaver has done it twice. 

Johns Hopkins' Victoria Kidiri was named the National Women’s Field Athlete of the Year for the 2022 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field season. Kadiri swept the horizontal jumps at the 2022 NCAA DIII Outdoor Track & Field Championships with marks of 6.03m (19-9½) in the long jump and 12.43m (40-9½) in the triple jump.

2.  Earley Named Player of Year

Middlebury junior attacker Jane Earley was named the Player of the Year by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association.

Earley scored 80 goals and handed out 19 assists in leading the Panthers to the Division III championship. The NESCAC Player of the Year, she was also honored as the IWLCA National Attacker of the Year.

Tufts senior Anna Clark was tabbed as the IWLCA Midfielder of the Year. She recorded 42 goals and nine assists in taking the Jumbos to the national final.

Franklin & Marshall junior Mary Pat McKenna was the recipient of the IWLCA Defender of the Year. She caused 29 turnovers and scooped up 39 ground balls as the Diplomats made the Elite Eight.

Tufts senior Molly Laliberty was selected as the Goalkeeper of the Year. She posted a 54.5 save percentage and raised her game in the postseason, turning away 55.5 percent of shots faced in eight postseason contests.

Robertson Gym Receives a Facelift

Southwestern University
Following the end of the 2021–22 academic year, the competition floor in the Robertson Center underwent a much-needed update to coincide with the rebranding of the Southwestern Athletics in 2021. In just over a week, the project was completed and now offers the primary logo and wordmarks for basketball and volleyball competition.

Those who drank coffee — even with sugar — were less likely to die than non-coffee drinkers in the following seven years, Axios' Tina Reed writes from a study published yesterday in the Annals of Internal Medicine.
