The Kenyon women stole the show on the opening night of the NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Championship in Indianapolis.
Senior Crile Hart set a national record in winning the 200 individual medley, holding off hard-charging Jordyn Wentzel of St. Catherine in 1:57.76. Wentzel (1:57.82) also broke the previous standard of 1:58.04 set by Hart in 2020.
Hart also swam a leg of the record-setting 200 medley relay. She teamed with Olivia Smith, Jennah Fadely and Emmie Mirus to touch the wall in 1:39.59 to edge Emory by 0.3 seconds. Both squads bettered the old mark of 1:40.11 set by Denison in 2019.
Kenyon has a six-point advantage over Denison after day one, while Emory trails by just nine points.
The Eagle men have forged a six-point lead over the Big Red, 101-95, with Williams trailing in third with 74.
